I’m a real sucker for a good brunch and I try to treat myself as often as I can. I love going to new places that offer brunch, so I can safely say that you can trust me when I give you the best brunches in Reykjavík.
Before we start our journey of fabulous brunches, I feel the urge to tell you that the fancy Icelandic word for brunch is Dögurð. Good luck pronouncing that! Luckily, the slang term that most people use is simply Bröns, which sounds just like Brunch. So, don’t worry about your knowledge of proper Icelandic, you can still get the best brunches in Reykjavík.

Slippbarinn
Location: Reykjavík Marina Icelandair Hotels, Mýrargata 2, 101 Reykjavík
Brunch served Saturdays and Sundays from 12 PM – 3 PM.
I could visit this place every single weekend if I could! It’s just that good! And people say that hotel restaurants don’t have good food. Well, Slippbarinn proves these people wrong!
Slippbarinn offers a brunch buffet and the highlights of said buffet for me are the breakfast pizzas. I mean, I’m always up for having an excuse to eat pizza, little own for breakfast.
Another personal favorite are the deep-fried hot dogs and the home made juices. I have so much love for this place, it’s ridiculous.
Price of brunch:
3790 ISK per person. Children aged 6-12 get 50% off and children younger than 6 eat for free.
Coocoo’s Nest
Location: Grandagarður 23, 101 Reykjavík
Brunch served Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM – 4 PM
This place is a real hipster joint that serves some amazing grub. And it’s extremely popular too so it can get quite hard to snatch a table during brunch hours. Especially seeing that the place is rather small.
Among my favorite things are the blueberry pancakes, because I have a massive sweet tooth, the breakfast burrito and the green eggs and ham. If you’re vegan, they also serve a vegan surprise during brunch so no-one is left out.
And if you’re feeling festive, you can’t go wrong with eating your brunch with a Mimosa or Bloody Mary. Cheers!
Price of brunch:
Price of dishes start from 1690 ISK with the children’s dish being 590 ISK.
Snaps Bistro
Location: Óðinstorg, 101 Reykjavík
Brunch served Saturdays and Sundays from 11.30 AM – 4 PM
Another one of my favorites is Snaps, which I always recommend to people in search of the best brunches in Reykjavík.
Snaps offers various dishes during their brunch hours, and I’m a bit ashamed to say that I’ve tasted nearly all of them! Among my favorites are the Croque Monsieur, pancakes with caramelized apples and cinnamon, the omelette and the avocado toast.
I recommend going with a bunch of people, ordering various dishes and sharing. Because sharing is caring – and you get to have a real party in your mouth!
Price of brunch:
Price of dishes start from 1290 ISK.
VOX
Location: Hilton Reykjavík Nordica, Suðurlandsbraut 2, 108 Reykjavík
Brunch served Saturdays and red days from 11.30 AM – 2 PM. Sundays from 11.30 AM – 3 PM.
Another amazing brunch place which is, against all odds, located within a hotel. It’s pricy but it’s almost too good to be true!
VOX is an immensely popular brunch spot for Icelandic families. The seating area is huge, so it’s ideal for big groups to come together and start the day with a heck of a brunch.
I suggest you book a table if you want to brunch away at VOX and please don’t let the dessert buffet pass you by. They offer some of the best desserts I’ve tasted in Iceland. A perfect end to a perfect brunch.
Price of brunch:
4200 ISK per person. Children aged 6-12 get 50% off and children younger than 6 eat for free.
Geysir Bistro
Location: Aðalstræti 2, 101 Reykjavík
Brunch served on Saturdays, Sundays and red days from 11.30 AM – 3 PM
Geysir is another popular spot among locals and for good reason. Their selection of brunch dishes is irresistible.
I’d opt for the Geysir Deluxe which has everything from curled egg to grilled leaven bread to American pancakes. You’ll be full the whole day if you go for that one!
Or you can just order some plain pancakes with syrup, but trust me, nothing about the Geysir pancakes are plain.
Price of brunch:
Price of dishes start at 995 ISK with the children’s dish being 1295 ISK.
Garðskálinn
Location: Gerðarsafn Museum, Hamraborg 4, Kópavogur
Brunch served Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM – 5 PM
Garðskálinn is a small, rustic place located within the Gerðarsafn Museum in Kópavogur. So, having brunch there is like killing two birds with one stone: You take in the arts and then you sit down for a nice, clean, healthy brunch.
I really love Garðskálinn. The food is awesome but the setting is even more lovely. You get a nice view of people passing by in a deep-rooted community in Kópavogur, a municipality of Reykjavík.
If you do take the trip to Kópavogur, I urge you to try the brunch pie with smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce and poached egg. Yummy!
Price of brunch:
Price of dishes start at 2200 ISK, desserts at 500 ISK.
Borðið
Location: Ægissíða 123, 107 Reykjavík
Brunch served Saturdays and Sundays from 11.30 AM – 3 PM
If you’re looking for a wholesome meal, cooked from scratch with quality ingredients, then Borðið is your place.
It’s a restaurant and a gourmet shop, offering one of the best brunches in Reykjavík. We’re talking about pulled pork on a sour dough bread, Icelandic cherry tomatoes and mozzarella and ribs with tarragon mayonnaise.
Good luck choosing something on the menu because everything looks, smells and tastes amazing!
Price of brunch:

Von Mathús
Location: Strandgata 75, 220 Hafnarfjörður
Brunch served Saturdays and Sundays from 11.30 AM – 2 PM
If you feel like visiting another municipality of Reykjavík, more specifically Hafnarfjörður, I urge you to go to Von Mathús for brunch. It’s out of this world.
They have some pretty tempting dishes, like fish of the day and chicken of the day, but also offer brunch platters that include eggs, potatoes, greek yogurt and home made granola, for example.
The restaurant is also vegan friendly and it’s a great spot to sit down with the whole family, young or old.
Price of brunch:
Price of dishes start at 1250 ISK with the children’s dish being 1490 ISK. You can also opt for a family brunch buffet for 3050 ISK per person, with children 12 years of age and younger getting 50% off.
Haust Restaurant
Location: Þórunnartún 1, 105 Reykjavík
Brunch served Saturdays and Sundays from 11.30 AM – 2 PM
Haust Restaurant is quite close to the center of Reykjavík, just a few minutes walk from Hlemmur, the big bus stop on Laugavegur.
And it’s well worth the walk if you’re into kick ass, scrumptious brunch buffets! We’re talking about pasta, pancakes, baked goods, beef carpaccio, chicken, vegetables – you name it! I stopped counting after my third trip to the buffet the last time I went there – I had to try everything!
I can’t stress this enough, but Haust Restaurant is one of the best brunches in Reykjavík.
Price of brunch:
3950 ISK per person. Children aged 6-12 get 50% off and children younger than 6 eat for free.
