By mount Snæfell in the eastern part of Iceland are two geothermal pools by Laugarfell lodge.
These pools are nothing short of majestic and are extra good for weary bones since they are said to have healing powers. I can’t make any guarantees about the healing powers but I can guarantee that it’s absolute euphoria to lie in those pools and just let all your worries wash away, surrounded by the Icelandic landscape.
Laugarfell is about 70 kilometers outside of Egilsstaðir and you have to take the road Kárahnjúkavegur to get there. During the summer the lodge and the pools are accessible for all types of vehicles but if you’re planning a trip there during the winter time I would recommend something sturdy, like a 4WD.
And you could even catch a glimpse of a reindeer while you’re bathing since more often or not they wander around these parts. Furthermore, you could bring your hiking shoes and enjoy some light hiking in the vicinity of the pools where you can admire some lovely waterfalls.
