If you take the bus to Breiðholt it’s guaranteed you will drive past the shopping centre Mjódd but we Icelanders always talk about the centre with an article – Mjóddin.
Mjóddin is a magical place and if you really want to meet real Icelanders, and some immigrants that have made their mark on the Icelandic society, then Mjóddin is the place to be.
The place is packed with shops and you can buy almost anything at Mjóddin – whether you want the catch of the day, some parts for your mobile phone or a wedding dress. You will find all of that and more at Mjóddin.
They also have some stalls where people can sell arts and crafts and they are always up for a chat.
Just be sure to take your time at Mjóddin because you never know what will happen next in the heart of Breiðholt.
How to get there?
I recommend skipping the taxi and just taking the bus since you can take the number 3, 4, 11, 12, 17, 21, 24, 28, 51, 52, 53 and 57.
